UNISON is supporting the Children's Food Bill so that there is a legal obligation to:
The broadcast regulator, Ofcom, has been asked to review codes on television advertising and promotion of food and drink to children. These initiatives do not invaildate the bill, which if it becomes law will regulate the extent to which companies can exploit children and endanger their health in the name of profit. Mary Creagh MP presented the bill to parliament on 22nd June. But it will need the support of 100 MPs on 28th October to survive a second reading and progress to committee stage.
