The offer for local government staff in England, Cymru/Wales and Northern Ireland has been increased to 1.25% from scale points 4-10 and 1% from scale points 11 to 49. Workers are also offered an extra day of leave as part of the offer, and the employers agreed to put in place a national redundancy avoidance agreement by December 1, 2009. The UNISON NJC Committee’s decision is to recommend acceptance of the final offer as the best achievable by negotiation and has asked branches to consult members on that basis. The Committee will consider the results of the consultation at its meeting on 9 September.
