NJC PAY 2008-9 - What's occurring? Print E-mail

The official word from the NJC is as follows:

The NJC Employers’ Side met today (17.10.08) and agreed to UNISON’s request to pay the 2008-9 pay award ‘on account’ pending the arbitration process. This means that members should receive both the increase on their pay and back-pay from 1 April 2008 in November pay packets or in December at the latest. A circular will be going to councils today to inform them of the decision.

The Trade Union and Employers’ Sides will meet on 23 October at ACAS to discuss – and hopefully agree - terms of reference for the binding arbitration process. We have been assured by the Employers that any award in excess of the 2008-9 offer will be met in full.

So the good news is that they have basically agreed to pay out on the 2.45% backdated to 1st April 2008 whilst still continuing negotiating, then pay out on any negotiated increase of the offer, which will also be backdated to 1st April. Any more news that we get we will keep you posted on, so do keep an eye on this site.
