Green Day for Union Representatives |
How green is your workplace? And more importantly, how green could it be? Those are the questions trade unionists will be asking themsevles as they mark World Environment Day next month.
World Environment Day, which occurs on 5th June each year, is organised by the UN to "stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and enhance political attention and action" as the world body states.
The same week will see a union conference in London on Greening your workplace. The half day conference, organised by the Trade Union Sustainable Development Advisory Committee, will take place at Congress House between 9.30 and 1.30 on Thursday 8th June.
There is growing recognition that reducing waste at work and the environmental impact of travel to and from the workplace are important issues when it comes to tackling global warming. Union representatives have a major role play in taking this agenda forward.
The closing dates for delegates to register is World Environment Day itself, Monday 5th June. More details are available from Emma Richards at the TUC on 0207 426 1258 or at
